Lions topple Bucs

OVFL: Lions knock off Bucs to keep on rolling

The Varsity Cambridge Lions defeated the Newmarket Bucs in commanding fashion, 40-0.

With this victory, the Lions move to 5-1 on the season.

β€œI thought from top to bottom everyone played and got to make plays,” said Lions Head Coach Anthony Maggiacomo after the win.

Offensively, the Lions were consistent throughout the game.

Lions receiver Jaedon Herron led the way as he had 98 receiving yards on three receptions and scored 2 touchdowns. Running back Dominic Valincic racked up 147 rushing yards and tallied a major.

All season long, the Lions backfield has been a consistent Β force.

β€œIt’s nice to have a balance in that rotation,” commented Maggiacomo.

Defensively, the Lions were effective and solid. Linebacker Drew Walden caught an interception while defensive back Owen Prutton led the team with seven combined tackles.

This upcoming week, the Lions will host the Mississauga Warriors.

β€œGreat challenge, we go down there and play well on all levels and gave us a chance in the fourthΒ quarter,” said Maggiacomo.

Kickoff is Β July 6 at 5:00pm.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
