We’re all guilty of getting caught up in hyperbole sometimes. I can be one of the worst offenders, especially when I’m rambling about a topic I’m passionate about – you’re familiar by now if you’re a regular reader. This is usually the case when I get into a discussion about the current state of football and the future of our game, because right now all signs seem to be pointing in the wrong direction when it comes to participation, fan attendance, T.V numbers and concussion studies.
The most recent blow that sent everyone into a tailspin was the NFL’s announcement back in March that they’ll be implementing a hardline rule that bans players from lowering their head to initiate contact. The infraction will read along the lines of,
“It is a foul if a player lowers his head to initiate and make contact with his helmet against an opponent. The player may be disqualified. Applies to any player anywhere on the field.”
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
