BC Provincial ‘AAA’ Championship teammates reunite to join CWUAA team.

Four former high school teammates will be reunited at the CIS level.

After CFC TOP 100 offensive lineman Christian Krause committed to the Manitoba Bisons, Julian Luis, Ashton MacKinnon and James Nicholas have all followed suit.

All four players recently guided the Mount Douglas Rams of the British Columbia High School Football Association (BCHSFA) to their third consecutive Provincial ‘AAA’ Championship.  McKinnon is also a CFC TOP 100 ranked player.

The 6’6, 2120 pound quarterback from Victoria, British Columbia was named a Western Conference All-Star this past season.

In 2012, the pivot was selected as a Western Conference and British Columbia Provincial All-Star.

Furthermore, MacKinnon has represented his home province as a member of Team British Columbia.

MacKinnon has been ranked as a CFC TOP 100 player.

Julian Luis

The 6’0, 175 pound defensive back from Victoria, British Columbia began his journey with Bisons several months ago.

“I first met Coach (Brian) Dobie in May of last year,” recalled Luis.  “He seemed like a genuine caring coach and we continued to stay in contact.”

“I like the fact that there are many players from British Columbia that I either know or have played against.  Through the course of my visit, I felt very welcome by the coaching staff as well as the players and it felt like a home away from home.”

Moreover, he was impressed with the facilities as well as what he saw in the football program.

“During my visit, I witnessed the work ethic and commitment of the players and I could see that it was a serious program striving to be the best,” expressed the defensive back.  “The program facilities were very impressive and I know that I will be able to develop to be a stronger athlete.”

During his time with the Rams, he showed his versatility by playing several positions including running back and linebacker in addition to defensive back.  In 2013, Luis led the team in tackles.  For his stellar play on the field, Luis was named Western Conference All-Star at the defensive back position, British Columbia Provincial All-Star at the defensive back position, and Rams CO-MVP alongside Krause.

Other teams he has suited up for include Victoria Renegades (minor/competitive fall league) and Team British Columbia.

James Nicholas

The 6’4, 225 pound defensive end from Victoria, British Columbia was named as a BC Provincial ‘AAA’ and Western Conference All-Stars in 2013. Additionally, Nicholas represented his home province as a member of Team British Columbia.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
