NCAFA: Spadaccini spectacular, Panthers balanced, Iloki runs wild

The Cumberland Panthers travelled across town to square off against the undefeated Kanata Knights.  Looking for their 2nd win in as many week the Panther came away with a hard fought 27-18 victory.  The scoring was led by Dante Spadaccini with 3 TDs and a notable 8 points scored on defence with a punt return TD by Vincent Griffin and a safety by Cody Champagne.

The South Ottawa Mustangs rolled up 313 yards on the ground as they defeated the Nepean Redskins 33-26. Keegan Bertrand had 147 yards and 2 TDs on 8 carries for the Redskins while Jake Ayre ran for 1 TD and Preston Martin caught a TD pass from Yanis Iloki. Nick Boschetti returned from a knee injury and recorded 13 solo tackles for the Redskins.

The East Ottawa Generals won 33-6 over the Outaouais Saints. The Generals defence dominated and Justin Belanger, John McCorquodale and brother Xander and Mason Witham all deserve special mention for their great defensive efforts.

The Gloucester South Raiders defeated the Bell Warriors 33-6. There were great efforts from Warriors MLBs Dakari Baskin and Curtis Brohman but it wasn’t enough.

The Cinderella South Ottawa Mustangs upset the Nepean Redskins featuring QB Cole Caldwell and the strong running of Paul Kabemba and Lesean Wilson with the pancake blocking of Avery Williams. The defence was led by DT Jamison Cop and Ryan Byers with blitzing MLB Ryan Cairns plus DB Sharbel Azar with shutdown coverage.

Mosquito

Sporting pink eye glare patches in support of injured teammate Mylissa Harvey, the Nepean Redskins won their 5th straight game with a 36-14 win over the South Ottawa Mustangs. Jamil Green-Anderson and Haven Holder ran for 2 TDs each while Nick Pelletier made a diving catch in the end zone to score on a Ryan Licandro pass. Harvey suffered a concussion at practice but was released from CHEO and was able to cheer on her teammates as she celebrated her 12th birthday at the game.

Despite being undersized the Bel-Air Lions OL led the way to scores by Djosy and Shawn Lukussa on their way to a 40-0 victory over the Cornwall Wildcats. Jacob Lemus-Lynch, Francis Tyo, Malcolm McCarthy, Brennan Coulson, James Jackson and hard hitting Mackenzie Doyle held back the storm. Stephane Tshishimbi had a punt and interception return for a TD. Russell Jean-Pierre and Max Wong had great interceptions with a sack by Tyler Clostre. Hard defensive work by Isaac Ombotimbe, Bryson Mulready, Schneider Cave and Cameron Daros.

Jake Papalia scored 2 TDs and Ben Edouard-Williams scored 1 while John Lubemba returned a punt for a TD for the Bell Warriors in a 33-6 win over the Gloucester South Raiders. Defensively, Blake Adam, Ethan Ryan, Jeremy Pare and Trey O’Brien had strong efforts in the Warrior win.

The Cumberland Panthers continued their undefeated season with a 52-0 win over the Kanata Knights.  The team was led by a balanced attack on offence with running and passing TDs by 5 different players.  The defence shut down any attempt by the Knights to throw or pass and the day was capped off with an 80 yard pick six by Justice Koradi.  The special teams were the backbone of the game with Patrick Massicotte leading the way with solid kickoffs for no return yards and adding to the score with kicked converts.

Pee Wee

Honoreal Iloki ran for 223 yards and 3 TDs on 23 carries while Nic Sayah powered his way to 143 yards and 1 TD as the Nepean Redskins defeated the South Ottawa Mustangs 34-7. Sayah also caught a Liam Kennedy pass for a TD and tossed a pass to Iloki for a 2 point conversion.

Cumberland Panther remain undefeated with another shutout this season against the Kanata Knights finishing 42-0. Pierre Robert had a great tackle in the 1st quarter – one of many stops from the Panther’s defence. RB Willy-Pierre Dimbongi had 3 TDs while WR Reid Ferry had a very well executed catch and run scoring a TD. TDs were also scored by Bradley Pichette and Duncan Hladik. Panther’s K Zachary Batal consistently made the PATs.

The Bell Warriors overcame a tough Gloucester South Raiders team to win 41-35. The Warriors had TDs from Sam Roberts, Andrew Fullerton, Hoah Hemming and Eric Nolan. Tyler Brohman made a key INT on defence to secure the win.

A depleted Myers Riders roster defeated the Gatineau Vikings 51-0 thanks to Eric Bento, Colin Neumann, Connor Rochs-Surgitt and Alex Strong who had to play different multiple positions.
