NCAFA Week 4: Panthers earn shutout, Clement & Tripp power Wolverines to victory

The National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA) completed it’s fourth week of regular season action.

Tyke

Fumble recoveries by East Ottawa Generals Mikey Devito and Emily Holmes kept them within 8 at halftime but the Orleans Bengals proved to be strongest in the 2nd half and walked away with the 49-26 victory.

Aiden Eggleton, Dante Clark, Ethan McFadden and Holden Sampert-O’Connor, provided the space for Brody Bampton and Akash Prasad to score of 2 TDs each. Ethan Rocha and AJ Richmond scored 1 TD each. The defence had 2 fumble recoveries by Daniel Bersyniow and LBs Caleb Faulkner, Mason Boomhower, and David Dent had several tackles each as the Kanata Knights downed the Outaouais Saints 36-8.

The South Ottawa Mustangs fought a tough battle in their 26-0 loss to the Gloucester South Raiders that featured 12 sacks led by Hunter Nicolitsis, Ryan Cairns and Caleb Merkley. 8 year old Cole Caldwell debuted at QB and the blocking was led by standout Harry Laquerre.  For the Raiders, Cameron Clement and Nicholas Maatouk provided DL pressure. Standouts included Takai Watkins, Aiden McMaster and Carter Maushitz.  QB Hieu Brooks rushed for 2 TDs and threw a TD to Xzaivious Vaillancourt. Michael Radzichowski and Joseph Cama led the OL.

Cornwall Wildcats RB Cam Geary had a big day on the ground scoring 4 TDs. The OL were opening up truck size holes all game. The only other TD came courtesy of Charlie Gould in a 52-26 loss to the North Gloucester Giants.

The West Carleton Wolverines lost 38-7 to the Nepean Redskins.  Hunter Neil had 50 yards rushing and a TD while Spencer Neil had 40 yards rushing and 30 receiving for the Wolverines. On defence Alex Goulding had 5 tackles and Ethan Hodgson had 7.

The Cumberland Panthers’ Will Mamanteo scored a TD on the first possession of the game and Dante Spadaccini scored in the 2nd half in a 32-13 loss to the Gatineau Vikings.

Tyson Noel-Charles and Colson Chartier each had 2 TDs while Isaac Lapine was solid on the offensive line in the Myers Riders 30-0 win over the Brockville Buccaneers. The defence was led by Nico Falsetto, Ethan Broxall and Prince Ross each making timely tackles and forcing fumbles during the game.

Mosquito

Led by a 3 TD day by Precieux King, the South Ottawa Mustangs defeated the Gloucester South Raiders 34-6. Also adding TDs were Danny Garvin and Phillippe Sow. Godwin Madra chipped in 4 points on the kicking.

The Cornwall Wildcats had a 4 TD performance by RB/WR Eric Cumberbatch and an aggressive defence that led to a 39-34 win over the North Gloucester Giants. Max Sabourin fell on a loose ball in the endzone to put his team up a score with less than two minutes to play. Cats QB Alexxi Paquette threw for 1 TD and Patrick Cumberbatch would provide the only other offensive major for the Cats.

The West Carleton Wolverines lost 35-0 to the Nepean Redskins but highlights included RB Matt Lachance with 30 yards, LB Jay Gleeson with 6 tackles and an INT and Brian Sheeler with 5 tackles.

Max Thompson scored 2 TDs in a 24-6 Myers Riders victory over the Brockville Buccaneers.  Michael Roy and Chris Jelly also scored. The defence, led by Trey Smith, Stefano Mellios and Brodie O’Connell was stellar not allowing Brockville’s offence to score a point. Matt Millito had a late interception to seal the victory.

Bryson Corrigall-Mulready and Will Lemus-Coto played sound football with many tackle.  Great blocking from OL and Djosy Lukusa scored 2 TDs as the Bel-Air Lions would win in OT against the Bell Warriors. Logan Statham-Souliere bulldozed for the Warrior TD.

Pee Wee

Cornwall Wildcats QB Tyler Nasr had a great game which included a pass from 25 yards out for a highlight reel catch by WR Hayden Sylvester in the Giants endzone to help lead to a 21-7 win over the North Gloucester Giants. Nasr would score from a yard out on to preserve the 2 TD margin. Cats DE Zander Mark recorded two forced fumbles, one was scooped up by teammate Trewan Jodoin for the first major of the game. DB Kylar Tyo would also record an interception.

The West Carleton Wolverines defeated the Nepean Redskins 28-20 led by RBs Owen Clement and Hayden Tripp with 2 TDs each. Justin Yee added 30 yards rushing. On defence, LB Blake Thompson had 2 sacks and 2 knockdowns, DL Joe Green had 10 tackles and DB Connor Bornais had 8 tackles.

The Bel-Air Lions got a solid game from receiver Richard Burton and great blocking by the offensive line led by Kyle Sabourin that permitted an explosive game on offence in a win over the Bell Warriors. Defensively a steady game by corners Kevin Zola, Jameson Dominique and Nana-Yah Serbeh allowed the Lions to limit the very solid Warrior attack.

Myers Riders blanked the Brockville Buccaneers 27-0. Avery Clayton and Mitch Lawson provided some big plays on offense while AJ Oikie-Joyce and Joshua Smegel brought defensive pressure throughout the game.

Cumberland Panthers shutout the Gatineau Vikings 47-0 led by Nathan Amesbury, Matthew Byrne and Quinn Nadon-Stencil on defence. Bradley Pichette had 18 points while Willy-Pierre Dimbongi scored 2 TDs and QB Alex Lawrie had some strong runs.
