NFL Draft: CFC100 Class of 2017 DL Deionte Knight receives mini-camp invites

The chance he’s been waiting for has finally arrived as CFC100 Class of 2017 DL Deionte Knight out of Western received mini-camp invites from the Washington Commanders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Ajax, ON native finished off his high school career at Clarkson Football North, who were still in the early stages of developing the program when he arrived on campus. To this day he’s likely still the best product to every come out of Football North, and that includes many who ended up in the NCAA. Instead Knight signed with Western after a stint at Arizona Western at the JUCO level, and would become one of the most dominant defensive lineman in U Sports.

In his final year with the Mustangs, nobody could stop Knight who recorded a nation-high 10 sacks, won U Sports Lineman of the Year, was named First-Team All-Canadian, and won the Vanier Cup to top it all off. This led to an East-West Shrine Bowl invitation, which opened up the door to NFL scouts eager to find a hidden gem and ultimately a chance with the Commanders and Buccaneers.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
