It was a very interesting, event-filled off-season for the Niagara Storm youth football organization, but aside from joining the OFC, the big announcement that Coach Brian “B.J.” Malott would be replacing Don Moses as the new Head Coach of the Senior Varsity football program was by far the largest.
“I am proud, excited, and pleased to announce that B.J. has accepted the head coaching position for the Storm varsity team,” said club President, Frank Trivieri. “B.J. brings experience and great enthusiasm to the job.”
“I’m really excited to be a member of the Storm family,” Coach Malott said. “I’m very thankful for the opportunity to compete with this team.”

“Brian ‘B.J.’ Malott comes from a genuine football pedigree. His father coached for over 9 years at Wilfrid Laurier University, and he was raised with his five brothers who also happened to be dedicated football players.
“B.J.’s football career started at the age of six in the Tri-City area where he played for the Vipers, and he eventually went on to coach for them for over three years as a teenager. In 2004, B.J. was a starting receiver and slotback with the McMaster Marauders and managed to win the honours of Rookie of the Year. While playing University football, he also found the time to coach with the Guelph Bears (now members of the OFC) in 2006-07. In 2008, he transferred to Waterloo where he played his final year of University football.
“B.J. has a degree in Social Sciences and is currently employed by the Dufferin-Peel Catholic School Board working in a special education department as a Resource Worker. He has coached for Kitchener-Waterloo & Guelph minor and senior OVFL football, COMFL TRI-CIM Vipers football, and the St. Joseph Jaguars senior HS football team.
“He also participates as a coach/clinician with the Super Elite Football clinics at various locations all over Ontario. In addition to all of this, B.J. has also been the receivers coach since 2011 with the University of Guelph Gryphons, who appeared in the 2012 Yates Cup Final.”
