CTV News reported that a shooting had occurred in Centretown on Wednesday, that claimed the life of 18-year-old Manyok “Manny” Akol of Ottawa.
Manny was a member of the Bell Warrior Football Club and played at St. Joe’s in Nepean. He also was a participant of the Fox 40 Prospect Challenge, formerly know as the Ontario Prospect Challenge. The defensive lineman was a talented player who was “a loyal friend, a hard-worker, a big, strong, young man with a nose for the ball and uncanny athletic ability and speed for a big man.”
Many of you will remember MANNY AKOL – a loyal friend, a hard-worker, a big-strong young man with a nose for the ball and uncanny athletic ability and speed for a big man and more recently as a gifted rapper.… https://t.co/F2kO5NdzCu

An up-and-coming musician, Manny had just release 3 videos for 3 songs in collaboration with other west-end rappers. His songs raised awareness of underprivileged youth and the struggles they face on the street.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
Our condolences go out to Manny’s family, friends, and football community.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
