The Chatham-Kent Bantam Cougars lost a close hard fought game to the #1 rank team in Ontario (Hamilton Tiger-Cats) 21-20 in the Ontario Football Conference final at McMaster University. After trailing 20-7 at halftime the Cougars staged a improbable come back and were an extra point away from tying the game with a minute left. The convert failed and the Cougars were unable to recover the ensuing on side kick. The Cougar defense played an outstanding 2nd half and held the powerful Hamilton offence to a single rouge. Ethan Ciupka, Tanner Hoorelbeck, Darwin Mitchell and Tyler Shymanski were the Chatham standouts. The offense was led by Darion Bacik who powered his way to 2 rushing TDs and many long runs. Evan Torres threw a TD to Nakoma Scott and Quinton Emerick kick 2 converts. The Cougars finished the season with a 7-2-1record with the only losses coming at the hands of the Hamilton team.
