The Chatham-Kent Cougars Bantam boys advanced to the South division final in the OFC with a convincing 42-13 win over the Burlington Stampeders at CK on Sunday. The Cougars broke open a close game after halftime by scoring 4 consecutive TD’s to put the game away.
With the help of a dominate offensive line Darion Bacik led the Cougars with 3 rushing TD’s. Evan Torres threw 2 TD passes to Bennett Schaffer and Nakoma Scott ran for the other Cougar TD. Quinton Emerick rounded out the scoring with 6 converts.The Cougars used an aggressive, attacking, swarming defense to shut down the high powered passing game of Burlington. The defense was led by Darwin Mitchell, Quinton Emerick and Tyler Symanski, who had an interception. Dante Handsor recovered a fumble.Next up for the Cougars is a showdown with the undefeated Hamilton Tiger-cats at Ron Joyce Stadium in Hamilton on Sunday, July 7.
