“Offense had moments of brilliance”

OFC: Jr. Argos get back to winning

The Toronto Jr. Argos were able to snap their losing streak this past weekend against the Sudbury Gladiators by a final score of 18-11.

β€œAfter such a disappointing game versus Huronia (week 3), it was important for us to go into Sudbury and do what was necessary to get the win,” says Offensive Assistant Anthony Schifano.

The game was won in large part thanks to the Jr. Argo defense who dominated the Gladiators for the entire game. According to Schifano, the defense only allowed one major play that led to a Sudbury score.

The offense, on the other hand, had some difficulties getting deep into Gladiator territory. β€œOur offense had moments of brilliance,” says Schifano. β€œBut unfortunately, did not capitalize on many of their chances.” The game featured the Jr. Argo running game, led by running back standout Isaiah Hibbert. Meanwhile, the offensive line led by Terrelle Lewis-Vu, Michael Olutu and Matthew Freibaurer made excellent blocks throughout the game.

Schifano also gives credit to the special teams, especially Elijah Silverman and Jake Einstoss who made a couple big plays of their own.

This weekend the Jr. Argos will be heading to nearby Oakville to take on the Titans. The Titans currently sit in 10th place in the OFC with a 1-3 record, while the Jr. Argos sit in seventh. The game will take place this Sunday at 4:00PM.
