OFC: Junior Varsity Titans stopped by Stallions on road to championship

The Oakville Titans Junior Varsity football team took on the Huronia Stallions in the OFC northern division final last Saturday in Barrie.

The Titans kept the game close for the first half, but the Stallions galloped to a 30-10 win and denied Oakville a berth in Saturday’s title game against Burlington.

Trailing 1-0 early in the contest, Oakville quarterback Lawrence Baldin hooked up with Drew Carey on a 20-yard touchdown pass.

After another Huronia rouge, Titan kicker Thomas Knapp connected on a 22-yard field goal to give Oakville a 10-2 lead at the end of the first.

The game started to unravel for the Titans when Huronia scored two touchdowns in the second quarter.

The Stallions scored on a fumble recovery on the Titans 29-yard line and then on a five-yard toss with six seconds left on clock to end the first half.

The Titans defence made an impressive goal-line stand creating a turnover on downs to start the third quarter from an opening kickoff fumble recovered by Huronia.

The Stallions secured their only points in the third quarter from a safety on the next play with the Titans offence on their one-yard line to make it 17-10.

Two interceptions by Calum Rabchuk, an Austin Passariello sack and a team fumble recovery in the second half kept the Titans alive.

However, the Stallions defence kept the Titans’ offence from getting on track, creating a pair of interceptions that resulted in the final two touchdownsΒ  of the contest.

Congratulations to all our Titan division team players, coaches, managers and parents for making this a great OFC football season.
