OFC JV: Brantford Bisons will rely on strengths of veteran leadership and experience for on-field success (PREVIEW)

This herd of Brantford Bisons are not scared and poised to come out hard. They are looking to be very adaptive to three-down football as well asΒ learn the ropes, ready to make opposition fall.

After a two-year hiatus from the Bisons, coach Anthony Allwood returns to sidelines to coach the Junior Varsity squad. He brings back with him a great staff with over 100 years of coaching experience at many levels and a high level of player development.

Assistant Coach Ray Martino is entering his third season with the Bisons, previously coaching Receivers on the Bantam and Senior Varsity teams.Β  Currently, he is the offensive coordinator for the Assumption College School’s junior team.

The offense will intend on trying to confuse opposing defenses using many different formations. This offense has a ton of weapons, utilizing a balanced air and ground attack.

The defense has a fearsome foursome upfront, built on size and speed. The experience of the linebacker and secondary players will be invaluable to this core. It will attribute tremendously in terms of shutting down opposing offenses, ground or air, utilizing a new hybrid CIS style of defense.

Many of these veterans add a lot of depth to the roster and experience will be a real asset. All of the veterans are battle tested and some have even played together for eight years. The local high schools in the area are well represented, with a good core of players from the two high schools that have won city championships the last three years.

The junior Bisons enter into three down football and the OFC for the very first time and as the season that should be a good one begins.
