The game started off with both teams playing a strong defensive game. Neither side wanted to give up the first score, but it was the Jr. Argos who struck first. QB Treyion Charles connected with WR Mark Del Fatti to put the Jr. Argos ahead 6-0 before the end of the half.

The second half was a different story as both teams put their offenses on high gear. The Wolverines were led by RB Logan White as he was able to break the Jr. Argo defense on several runs. While the Wolverines worked well on the ground, the Jr. Argos stuck to the passing game with great success. With only two minutes left in the game the score was 33-26 in favor if the Jr. Argos.

Peterborough’s Logan White broke three tackles to score again to bring the score within one point. With the score 33-32, the Wolverines went to take their PAT kick, but missed the uprights.

With the win, Toronto moves onto the northern conference finals against the very strong Burlington Stampeders (’96).

Last week, Burlington beat their semi-final opponent 66-0. All season the Stampeders have been steamrolling over every team in the OFC and have yet to lose a game. The Jr. Argos first met the Stampeders in week four and lost 42-8. However, Toronto head coach Carlo Onorati remains confident.

β€œWe are not nervous in the least”, says Onorati. β€œAt the start of the season we set a goal as a coaching staff to be in the conference final against them (Burlington). Now it is time for us to take it one step further and have a shot to win our second conference championship in three years.”

It is going to be a well-fought game for both sides come this Sunday in Burlington. Although the Jr. Argos are the underdogs in this match, Toronto is preparing for success. β€œOur keys to success against them are going to be to establish our running game and control the clock”.

The Jr. Argos will take on the Stampeders with Sunday at 4:00PM in Burlington.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
