JV Stamps record first shut out of the season

The Junior Varsity Stamps continue to show their dominance as they denied the Chatham Cougars an opportunity to get on the score board with their June 12th 51-0 win at home.
The Cougars O-line could not withstand the constant defensive rush which resulted in a total of 4 intercepted passes by Andrew Ziebart, Justin Veltri, Chandler Bradshaw, and Addison Olah.Ā  Ziebart, who played an outstanding defensive game scored a touchdown resulting from a fumble recovery.Ā  Olah and Bryce James were the leading tacklers with seven and six respectively.
Head Coach Andy van Oosterhout clearly please with his defence stated: “We challenged our defense to play up to their potential todayā€¦.and they carried the team in the first half until the offence got on track. The offence adjusted to Cougar defence which came out strong in the first quarter. Running back Jonathan Howard had 16 carries for a total or 186 yards which included an impressive 58 yard run and two touchdowns.Ā  Justin Saddlemyre had 72 passing yards resulting in one touchdown from a pass from quarterback Troy Downton. Adam McIntosh was perfect on the converts, and scored a 36-yard field goal that electrified the team and the fans.
Coach Andy van Oosterhout acknowledged the efforts of the O-line in the second half, in particular Ben HowlettĀ  who had impressive efforts in pushing back the defensive line allowing the running backs the room they needed.Ā Ā Ā  The coach concluded that the coaching staff is “Very proud of their efforts in particular and the team as a whole today.”Ā  Always with a focus on the future he added, “They will need the same effort next weekend against their toughest competition to date when they play Twin Cities.”

Another shut out for varsity squad

The #1 ranked varsity Stampeders showcased the defence June 12 at Notre Dame field with a 34-0 shut out over the Chatham Cougars.
Brett Blasko and Trevor Reid caught two touchdown passes each, Doug Corby caught one for the first score of the game. Alexander White was good for four of his five attempts at converts.
