OFC: Titans Junior Varsity team continues to impress

Oakville Junior Varsity Titans claimed their second consecutive Ontario Football Conference victory defeating the Twin Cities 2 Predators by a score of 76-12.

Running back Thomas Knapp opened the first quarter with three touchdowns for a game total of 153 yards on six carries.

Taylor Kurc adding another touchdown gaining 97 yards on five carries.

Tanner Barwell led receivers with three touchdowns on six receptions for 28 yards and Stephen Hazineh hauled in two catches for 128 yards.

Quarterback Brandon Smyk (picture) threw 7 for 10 completions, 173 yards and two TDs, while fellow pivot Lawrence Baldin had 22 passing yards with one TD.

The defence put in another stellar performance creating a fumble recovery, recording three interceptions and two sacks and preventing any consistent offence by the Predators.

Mac VanDuzer and Austin Passariello led in tackles with four each.

Brett Colangelo recorded his second interception of the season with Passariello and Calum Rabchuk adding one each.

The defence gave up only one touchdown in this match placing the Titans as the stingiest points-against team in their division.

The fleet footed punt returner Rabchuk exploded in the second quarter for two touchdowns running for a combined 123 yards.  While, kick-off returner Peter Salmini ran a 81-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

Bantam

The Bantam Titans made for a close match with the Chatham Cougars in the third quarter trailing by only a touchdown.

An interception late in the third quarter led to a Cougar touchdown early in the fourth quarter erasing a Titans comeback giving Chatham a 32-12 victory.

Defensively, the Titans were led by Tristian Finelli with seven, Declan Goncalves (6) and Brett Switzer (5).

Switzer added one interception in the second quarter.

Both touchdowns were scored by Grant Hellmann on a 38-yard pass reception and a 1-yard run.

Quarterback Aidan Challis put up eight completions on 14 attempts for 115 yards and one touchdown.

Full back Timothy Baljet led rushers with 15 carries for 74 yards.

Peewee

The Peewee Titan’s broke their eleven quarter streak without a score by putting together an impressive 65-yard touchdown drive with minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Quarterback Nick Mardner pitched the ball to Ian Blacker for their one-yard touchdown run into the end zone.   Defensive highlight in the second quarter was a fumble recovery by Christopher Pastrana on the Oakville one-yard line turning back the Cougars.

Chatham Cougars prevailed in this contest 46-6.

The Oakville Titan’s play their home games during the OFC season at Bronte Field on Lakeshore Road West in Bronte Village.

The next scheduled games are on Saturday June 18th, with the Peewees at Toronto 11am; Bantams at Twin Cities 1pm and the JVs at Clarington 5pm.
