OFC: Titans take 2 of 3 on the weekend

5242Calum Rabchuk used a key 102-yard punt  return for a touchdown in the third quarter to rally his Junior Varsity  Titans to victory against the Sudbury Gladiators 34-21 last Saturday. 
The Gladiators had a 21-20 lead at the mid break in a see-saw half of  scoring.  As a result of the win, the JVs (5-1-1) locked up home field  advantage in their division for the playoffs with this important road  win.
The defence took over in the second half shutting down the Gladiator offence, which yielded only 54 yards and no points.
Rabchuk and Dante Chiovitti both had interceptions with Douglas  Hawkins recovering a fumble late in the fourth quarter.  Christian  Crowley added five kick-off/punt returns for 102 yards on special teams.
Thomas Knapp rushed for 151 yards on 14 carries for two touchdowns  with Chiovitti adding another 56 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown.

Bantams
The Titan Bantams solidified their playoff spot with a 33-22 victory over the Jr. Argonauts in Toronto.
The offence generated 380 net yards with five touchdowns using a  predominately running game.  John Rizzuti led rushers using his size and  power to run 13 carries for 109 yards and a touchdown.
Adding to the rushing totals was Grant Hellmann, who had three  carries for 49 yards with one touchdown. Riley Manning had eight carries  for 57 yards with one touchdown, and Alexander Filippini had three  carries for 43 yards with one touchdown.
The defence created a number of key turnovers to snuff critical Jr. Argo offensive drives during the game.
Brett Switzer had one interception with fumble recoveries by Declan  Goncalves and Austin Bedrosian.  Goncalves had his fumble recovery on  the Oakville three-yard line during the Jr. Argo’s first offensive  possession in the first quarter.

Peewees
The peewee Titans were in Chatham to face the Cougars losing this contest 54-7.
Quarterback Nick Mardner scored the lone Titans touchdown on a 10  yard run into the end zone.  Mardner had six carries for 91 yards with  three passes for 41 yards.
The Titans are in action this Sunday at Bronte Field. The Peewees  kick off against Twin Cities at 10 am, followed by the Bantams and  Toronto at noon.
The final game of the day has the Junior Varsitys against Burlington at 2 pm.
