OFC: Toronto Jr. Argos can’t find a win

The Toronto Jr. Argos are now 0-5 after another loss this week in Burlington.

The Toronto Jr. Argonauts lost this week 47-12 against the Burlington Stampeders.

The Jr. Argos have yet to find a win this season and fall to ninth place on the OFC. The team played well, but could not find their rhythm against a very competitive Burlington team. Once again the Jr. Argos showed a solid core at defense with Lamar Foyle at its center, but struggled to put points on the board.

Foyle is now second in the league in tackles with 18 and nine assists. Right behind him in the standings are Mike Moore and Andrew Sotrus, with 16 and ten tackles respectively.

The Jr. Argos have had a rough first half of the season thanks to injuries, inconsistent play and the inability to exhibit a running game. However, the Jr. Argos were able to string together a number of plays thanks to QB Chris Sharanewych and WR Nate Rouse.

Sharanewych is among the top 5 QBs in the OFC with 52 completions for 789 yards and five TDs. Nate Rouse is the third overall WR in the OFC with 20 catches for 308 yards and three TDs. Although the Jr. Argos have had a rough time on the ground, Joseph Sarfo-Boateng now averages 6 yards per carry and is one the Jr. Argos key running backs.

Even though the team does not have any wins, there are many talented players on the field. Hopefully the Jr. Argos will find their stride next Sunday and use the tools they have to take down the Knights.

The Jr. Argos hope to re-group during their bye week and come out strong against the sixth place Clarington Knights on July 7th at 1:00PM.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
