At the age of six, Joseph DiStefano saw some older boys playing football outside the arena where he was playing hockey and he told his dad he wanted to play football.

Ever since that day, football has been a part of Joseph’s life, and it has become his favourite sport.

Thus far, his experience has been mainly in the spring development league, but this year he decided to play in the competitive fall league with the peewee Cornwall Wildcats in the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA).

Joseph also plays for his high school’s junior team.

Over his gridiron career he has won several awards, including Defensive MVP, Offensive MVP and Outstanding Linesman.

The Wildcats standout hopes to keep progressing in the sport over the upcoming years.

In the offseason, he plays competitive hockey, which keeps him training and in shape for the football season as it is good for his agility, strength and speed.

For the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC), he wants to achieve a couple of main objectives.

“My goals for the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) are to compare myself to other good players and hope to make the provincial team,” said Joseph.

The linebacker/safety loves to play the sport  because of the rush of adrenaline he feels when competing.

“I like the feeling of making big hits and seeing the team rally around them,” commented the Wildcats standout. “I like the team concept the camaraderie and the friendships I have with my teammates.”

Moreover, Joseph’s idol is Ray Lewis because he admired his dedication and intensity he played with.

“I try to prepare myself and work hard in every game and play like he did,” added the Wildcat standout.
