Alessio Tersigni’s football experience thus far has been playing with the Sarnia Minor Athletic Association for the past five years.

The cornerback is hoping to bring what he learns with the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) to his high school football experience, as well as hoping it will strengthen his skills and help him succeed with the Sarnia Sturgeons travel team in the Ontario Football Conference (OFC).

“My goals for the OPC are to gain more experience and knowledge of the game of football in a professional environment,” said Alessio. “I also want to acquire a brand new set of skills that I can apply to my skillset to enhance the performance of my game.”

He feels that through the professional training, as well as the talent of the other players, it will give him an idea as to how difficult it may be to become a professional player along with how hard he has to work to become one.

“Therefore, through OPC I wish to expand my knowledge and gain more experience, as well as acquire new sets of skills and tricks to apply to my toolbox of skills to make myself a better football player,” added Alessio.

During the offseason, he indulges himself in various activities to ensure that his skills are kept sharp and his fitness is maintained.

He practices one-on-one weekly with his student coach, Aden Alkinani, working on different tactics and skills to keep his abilities sharp and on point.

To keep his fitness levels high, Alessio runs about two or three kilometers daily.

Moreover, on the field his idol is Richard Sherman because he loves watching and learning new techniques on how to play the game from him.

“To watch the best player in the NFL playing the same position as I am, makes it very easy for me to fall in love with his style of play,” commented Alessio.

“Richard Sherman adds an element of fear to the opposition, which I admire and wish to implement into my game,” continued the cornerback.

Alessio admires Sherman’s aggressiveness, speed and power, and wishes to learn different ways to acquire those similar skills in his home game.

The cornerback loves football for many reasons, including the fact that he enjoys exercising, playing with friends, meeting new people and simply having fun.

“Although if I had to choose a couple reasons as to why I love football, they would be because it is very competitive and it gives me a huge rush and thrill when I play,” commented Alessio.

He loves the thrill that each play brings because it gives more momentum and makes him play even better.

On the competitiveness end, he has a very competitive mindset in everything that he does, and he always likes for himself and his teammates to be the best they can be.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
