Cameron Creechan’s experience with the sport has been great.

It originally started as a pastime, but as his skills developed so did his love for the game.

He has had very good coaches through the Chatham Kent Cougar system in the Ontario Football Conference (OFC), and they have helped push him to reach his full potential.

“My love for football has grown significantly over the past five or six years, now I could not go without thinking of football each day when seven years ago I did not know what football was,” said Cameron.

“I could not imagine myself playing anything but football,” added the Cougar, who also plays with his school team, the Ursuline College Lancers.

“My goals for the Ontario Prospect Challenge are to develop my skills even further, to push things to a higher level, including kicking/punting and linebacker,” explained Cameron.

His personal goal is to do his best and achieve what he knows he can do, which is make it to the top 100.

To improve during the offseason, the Cougar works out every day, in one form or another.

He attends Sport Specific athletic training two to three times a week and participates in high school basketball, which has helped him increase speed, footwork and upper body strength.

“I push myself to get better, and work on my footwork constantly,” commented Cameron, “I spend time every day dropping footballs in the garage and kicking into a net.”

This year he also helped coach a bantam championship team in Chatham Minor League Football, which he is very proud of.

On the field, his idol is Ray Lewis because of the passion and fight he brought to the game.

“That passion inspired his teammates to be great and that’s what I want to do,” continued Cameron. “He led his team every day on and off the field and that’s what I want to do.”

The Cougar loves to play football because it is where he feels at home.

“There is absolutely nothing better on a Sunday night under the lights when I strap my pads on and buckle up my helmet,” explained Cameron.

“I honestly do not think I could ever stop playing football, it is my first love and always will be.”
