Ife Oneyemenam started playing football in Grade 7 for the Toronto Jr. Argos, where he spent two summers with them before trying fall football with the Etobicoke Eagles.

Having enjoyed the organization, he played his next summer season with them and has played a total of four seasons through club teams.

The linebacker also just wrapped up his third season with his high school team, the St. Michaelā€™s Kerry Blues.

His goal for the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) is to start making a name for himself.

ā€œI am hoping that in doing so, I will eventually get noticed by a scout and attend a college/university willing to cover my tuition,ā€ said Ife.

During the offseason, the Kerry Blue keeps in shape and works on improving his speed by doing track with the school team.

He also trains at various fields with others to work on agility and football, as well as going to the gym.

On the field Ife is currently without a model, but if he had to choose one he would aspire to be like Squon Barkley of Penn State for his work ethic.

As a true freshman, Ife still found Barkley to be someone to watch as he has broken several team records for Penn State.

He also feels as though Barkleyā€™s work ethic follows him off the field.

Ife has always been an active child and started out playing about 10 years of soccer, but after deciding that he could not go anywhere with it he switched to football, and he considers it to be one of his best decisions.

ā€œPlaying football allows me [to be] active in a way I never before thought was possible,ā€ added the linebacker. ā€œFootball pushes me to be the best at what I can be and allows me to be active.ā€

He also loves football because the people he has met are great, whether they are his opponents or his teammates.

ā€œIts competitive, has an amazing community and allows me to be active, and for that I love it,ā€ commented Ife.
