Cole

Cole Rothwell started playing the sport three years ago with Kemptville Minor Football in the spring league as a first year mosquito.

He continued into the fall playing in the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA) with the Brockville Bucs, which he also did last year.

Moreover, this year he is a peewee and played spring football with the Kemptville Jaguars.

Currently, he is a linebacker with the Rideau Redblacks in the NCAFA.

During the offseason, the linebacker has participated in winter conditioning camps. He also plays school basketball, volleyball and touch football. For this upcoming winter he is looking into specialized skills camps.

The RedBlack’s goal for the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) is to make the grade 8 team, since he made it into the top 100 last year.

“I feel it would be a great learning opportunity to learn from the specialized coaching staff,” said Cole.

Some of the reasons the RedBlack loves to play the sport are because he gets to hit people and knock them down.

“I am learning and growing as a person and as a teammate,” explained the linebacker. “I have made many friends and now family through my few years of playing.”

One of his football idols is Marshawn Lynch because he hits hard and he is an incredible running back, he also loves how he plays in “beast mode.”

“I also like Clay Matthews because he rocks on the field,” added Cole.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
