Luca Farinaccio started playing four years ago as an offensive lineman in the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA) with the mite Myers Riders, winning the championship that season.

In his first year as a mosquito Rider, he made the switch to defensive line, and the following year he was voted Most Improved Player.

This season, Luca was named the Riders’ Team MVP for the city championship game, as well as being the Team MVP for the season.

During the offseason, the Riders standout attends the Jr. Ravens Camp at Carleton University so he can learn from university players and coaches.

He also plays hockey, and does strength and conditioning training, focusing mostly on body weight stuff such as sit ups, dips, pull-ups and agility.

For the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC), Luca wants to achieve a few key objectives.

β€œMy goals for the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) are to test myself against better competition,” said Luca. β€œTo learn from the high level of coaching I will receive and to get better as a football player.”

On the field, the defensive end’s favourite player is Clay Matthews.

β€œWe play a similar position and he is a great pass rusher who trains hard, is fast and very strong,” commented Luca. β€œHe’s a beast!”

The Rider says he loves the sport because of the physical contact.

β€œI also love the friendships you build with your teammates,” added Luca.
