Ryan Stinson has had the privilege to play for some great teams and coaches in the Niagara Region over the past eleven years.
He got his start in the Niagara Regional Minor Football Association when he was eight years old.
Since then his experience has included high school football with the Saint Paul Patriots, which he graduated from in 2015 and in the Ontario Varsity Football League’s (OVFL) Niagara Spears, where he continues to play.
The Spears standout plays both sides of the ball as a wide receiver, running back and defensive back.
He also competed in last year’s Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC), where he and his team suffered a one-point loss.
At this year’s OPC he is hoping to contribute to the scoring on offence and come out with a team victory.
Ryan studies the game all year round, and gets stronger in the weight room.
“I run, do hills, footwork drills and do flag/touch football indoors,” added Ryan.
Moreover, he is considering Mount Allison, McMaster and Western to continue his gridiron career.
“My football idols are my coaches, namely Rick Oreskovich of Saint Paul and Brian Duguay of the Niagara Spears because they push me to improve and have given me growth as a player and a person,” commented Ryan.
The Spear says the sport has been his favourite sport since he was very young, and that it has been his passion.
“I am a student of the game,” added Ryan.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
