Patrick Ezewski played his first football game in the fall of 2011 in the house league program for the Chatham-Kent Cougars.

He played both offence and defence, but his passion was kicking.

“I spent time before and after practice practicing my kicking and that season I was awarded the Most Dedicated Player Award,” said Patrick.

In the spring of 2012, he attended a Cougar Camp where head coach Cesar Torres approached Patrick and asked him to get permission to fill a linebacker spot on his Ontario Football Conference (OFC) peewee Cougar team.

During that season Coach Torres and Coach White awarded him with Defensive MVP.

Patrick has since played for both spring OFC football and fall house league with the Cougars until he went to high school, playing many different positions.

In 2012, he played third in the Punt, Pass and Kick fundraiser/contest, and the following year he played first and won the Offensive Leadership Award.

Moreover, in the fall of 2014 the Cougar practiced and was eligible to play in one game with the senior Wallaceburg District Secondary School Tartans.

Spring of 2015 brought him to the junior Tartans as a linebacker, cornerback, running back and kicker/punter. He was also awarded Offensive MVP.

This past fall, the Tartans senior team went to eight-man football where he was eligible to play all games, except the playoffs, where he played running back, linebacker and kicker/punter.

“My goals for Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) is to earn a spot on the roster as a kicker where I can learn, show my talent, become a better player and help my team,” commented Patrick.

“I was honoured to kick for the senior varsity West OPC team last year and learned a lot from Coach Darcy Seguin and noticed a huge difference in my kicking,” added the Tartan.

During the offseason, he has helped coach the Cougar house league team in the fall.

In the winter he plays basketball and works out. As for the summer, if he is not playing, he practices with his brother who also plays football.

“My kicking role model is Shaun Suisham of the Pittsburgh Steelers,” explained Patrick, “he attended my high school and has gone on to be on of the best kickers in the NFL.”

The Tartan loves football because of the team camaraderie.
