Ten-year-old Cameron Palcik has been playing in various Hamilton area football leagues for the past four years, including the Hamilton-Wentworth Minor Football Association and the Hamilton Minor Football Association.

Cameron has also been an active participant in the winter conditioning camps, and has been a player in the spring and fall schedules.

Typically, the fifth grader has been a defensive lineman, but has also spent a season as centre and as a running back.

Cameron just finished a year on the AAA atom Hamilton Jr. TiCats in the Hamilton Football Association (HFA), where they won their division championship and placed second overall in the Ontario finals.

During the offseason, the TiCat continues to work on his cardio and strength training in the winter with conditioning football camps, as well as street hockey with his friends.

He also plays football in the snow at the park, and is thinking of doing flag football in the spring to help with speed and agility training too.

ā€œI would like to become a player on the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) team and have that as another accomplishment for me in my football career,ā€ said Cameron.

ā€œIā€™m willing to put in effort to be recognized as a leader on the team as a team player,ā€ added the defensive lineman.

Moreover, the TiCat loves the Saskatchewan Roughriders and all of the players are his role models.

Cameron loves the way they all work as a team and are always the most loved team in the league.

Although they did not have a good 2015 season, the TiCat sees a comeback in 2016.

ā€œI may live in Hamilton, but on game day I cheer for the green and white team,ā€ commented Cameron.

He loves to play football because it is fun, and is a great game for learning strategy and being able to anticipate what the other team is going to do.

ā€œI really like being able to hold our line or push through their lines and sack the quarterback!ā€ explained Cameron.
