Armando Pascual de la Cruz started playing the sport a year and a half ago in April of 2014 with the Beckwith Irish as a middle linebacker.

ā€œI fell in love with the sport instantly and I was considered the best player on the team,ā€ said Armando, who was recruited to the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA) that June by the Bell Warriors.

His love for the sport continued to drive him forward as the Warriors went undefeated in regular season, finally losing to the Cumberland Panthers in the finals.

Armando then decided to challenge himself and try out for the Ottawa Myers Riders of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

He made the team as a defensive back and says the winter workouts were the hardest thing he has ever done.

The Riders has a 6-2 season, losing to Cumberland in the semi-finals.

Moreover, the defensive back returned to the NCAFA and the Warriors this year.

Armando is aiming high at this year’s Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC).

ā€œMy goal for the Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC) is to make the Top 100, and if I can Top 50, and to improve myself as an athlete as much as I can,ā€ commented the Warrior.

During the offseason, he does winter workouts with the Myers Riders, as well as work out. He does a thousand sit ups a day, push ups and lift weights with his teammates.

Each day, Armando pushes himself to do more than the previous.

Someone he looks up to is Richard Sherman because the way he reads the receivers eyes and knows where the ball is going to go and when it is going to get there is amazing.

Armando loves the sport because teams become a brotherhood and the coaches push you to become the best player you can be.

ā€œYour always pushing yourself to be the best athlete you can for yourself and your team because you donā€™t want to let them down,ā€ added the defensive back.
