OVFL: Back to back wins send the Guelph Bears into the playoffs

Varsity

The Varsity Bears won 63-18 this week against Halton, the Bears Jet system is paying dividends. QB Jonny Beits went 8/10 for 330Yards and 5TD’s, WR Dan Tessari 3 Catches for 177 Yrds and 2 TD’s including a 103yard reception.Β Β Breadon Gorgi also had 12 carries for 172 yards.

On Defence the bears played exceptional as well;
LB Stew Vandermade had 7 solo tackles 3 assisted tackles and 3 sacks, DB Ryan Burnham for the second straight week had an interception for a TD, returning 65 yards.

The Bears had a guaranteed 5thΒ seed for the playoffs, with Brantford forfeiting their last game. They will play either Essex or St. Marie. The Bears will be adding extra practices this week to prepare and are confident in their chances with key players returning to their roster.

Junior Varsity

Despite the win this past week the JV Bears have been eliminated from playoff contention fallowing Brampton’s victory over Niagara.

The JV Bears won against Halton 42-7. QB Job threw for 2 TDs and 146Yards. RB Rodrique Kinga has 3 rushing TD and 115yards.
The JV Bears are looking to close out their season with a victory against Brantford on Saturday.
