Not only has varsity Ottawa Myers Riders undefeated season netted them the best overall record in the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL), but it also has given the team a first round bye in the playoffs.
The top two teams in both the Adam and Wettges Conference get an automatic first round bye.Ā Along with the Myers Riders (8-0, first in Wettges Conference), the Essex Ravens (7-1, first in Adam Conference), Niagara Spears (7-1, second in Adam Conference) and Markam Raiders (6-2, second in Wettges Conference) will enjoy that extra week to prepare for the playoffs.
There will be four first round playoff games on Saturday July 27th, 2013.Ā Defending league champions, London Jr Mustangs (5-3 fifth in Adam Conference) will begin the playoffs on the road.Ā The Mustangs will visit the Cambridge Lions (6-2, third in Adam Conference) at Jacob Hespeler Field.
Meanwhile, the Mississauga Warriors (6-2, fourth in Adam Conference) will host the Etobicoke Eagles (5-3, sixth in Adam Conference) at Loyola Catholic Secondary School. At Joe. St Denis Field, the Cornwall Wildcats (6-2, third in Wettges Conference) will host the Metro Toronto Wildcats.Ā Lastly, the Oshawa Hawkeyes (4-4, fifth in Wettges Conference) will visit the Kingston Grenadiers (6-2, fourth in Wettges Conference) at LCVI).
All games begin at 1:00pm.
In junior varsity, the Essex Ravens, Cumberland Panthers, Mississauga Warriors and Toronto Thunder have earned first round byes in the playoffs, which also begin on Saturday July 27th, 2013.
The Cambridge Lions will host the Niagara Spears at Jacob Hespeler Field. Meanwhile, the Brampton Bulldogs will travel to London to face the Jr. Mustangs at TD Waterhouse Stadium and the Pickering Dolphins will host Metro Toronto Wildcats at Kinsmen Park.Ā These three games start at 1:00pm.
The last game on Saturdayās schedule will see the Ottawa Myers Riders host the Newmarket Bucs at Minto Field, Nepean Sportsplex.Ā Kickoff is 4:00pm.
