OVFL GAME PREVIEW: Big game for Varsity Panthers

After a dominating 48-28 win over the Cornwall Wildcats, the Panthers have a record of 2 wins and 2 losses. The celebration is cut short as the team prepares to face the undefeated York region Lions.

‘’It’s a really big game for us, it will be a big test.’ We want to go out and win, this would put us back in the top tier of the league, so we are looking forward to this big game.’’

For the Panthers head coach, Gerald Moore, this challenge should not change the preparation of the game.

‘’It’s nothing different for us, we will prepare for this game like we prepare for any other games.’’

Moore mentions that the Lions like to spread the defense out and use the passing game to make damage on the offense.

‘’They have a good quarterback with a great arm, and a really good receiving core.’’

‘’We will have to stop their passing game if we want to beat them.’’

The Panthers like the matchups they will get with their secondary and are confident that their talented linebacker core will provide great help with the coverage. Cumberland also wants to put pressure on the Lions quarterback to disrupt the passing game.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Panthers will keep doing what they do best. Get yardage with the running game. With the help of a good running back core and an offensive line that is the strength of the team according to Moore, the team should be able to put some points on the board.

The team should count on a full lineup as they only have one player injured that is questionable for the game.

Finally, Moore adds that if his team avoids turnovers and execute like the way they should, they have better chances to win the game.

The game will be played next Saturday at 5pm in the Millennium Park.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
