OVFL GAME PREVIEW: Ravens perfecting play, working hard before postseason

The 4-2 Essex Ravens are set this week to travel to Hamilton and take on the 2-4 Ironmen.

While this is another game for the Ravens that is winnable, they aren’t taking it lightly.  The team is ensuring they don’t fall victim to the confidence trap.

“We must make the plays necessary and carry over what we do in practice to the game,” expressed OVFL leading rusher Braeden Braccio.  “If we do that we shouldn’t have much to worry about.”

With a win this week, the Ravens will most likely clinch a playoff berth, something that has been a goal for the team throughout the 2016 OVFL season.

“We’re focusing on perfecting what we have in our playbook, trying to find the perfect fit for the players on the field and just plain work hard before playoffs,” added Braccio.  “The intensity really ramped up after our losses to Niagara and Cambridge, the entire team would love to play both of them again in order to make up for those early losses and we must take it week to week until we get that chance again.”

The team hopes that confidence is what they need in order to repeat as champions.  Additionally, the Ravens want to remain humble, yet careful not to underestimate opponents.

The Ironmen are capable of putting up some points.  Should the Ravens defence doesn’t come to play, the Ironmen have a chance to upset the Ravens this weekend.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
