OVFL quarterfinals determined (SCHEDULE)

Bye week is over for top ranked teams in the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).  Now, it’s time to bring it to the football field.

The next round of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) playoffs has been determined. All games in both the varsity and junior varsity divisions will be played on Saturday August 3^rd.

In the Varsity division, Ottawa Myers Riders (8-0, first in Wettges Conference) will host the Cornwall Wildcats (6-2, third in Wettges Conference) at Minto Field, Nepean Sportsplex.  Kickoff is 5:00pm.  The Wildcats advanced to the next round of the playoffs after a 44-7 drubbing of the Metro Toronto Wildcats.

Meanwhile, the Essex Ravens (7-1, first in Adam Conference) will face off against defending champions London Jr. Mustangs (5-3, fifth in Adam Conference) at Raider Field, Essex District High School.  Game start is 7:00pm.  The Mustangs advanced to the next round after dispatching the Cambridge Lions 39-26.

The third game will see the Kingston Grenadiers (6-2, fourth in Wettges Conference) on the road to take on the Markham Raiders (6-2, second in Wettges Conference) on at Mt. Joy. Kickoff is 7:30pm.  The Grenadiers punched their ticket to the next round after crushing the Oshawa Hawkeyes 42-7.

In the final matchup, the Niagara Spears (7-1, second in Adam Conference) will host the Mississauga Warriors (6-2, fourth in Adam Conference) at Kiwanis Field.  Game time is 7:30pm. The Warriors advanced after defeating the Etobicoke Eagles 23-13.

As for the junior varsity division, the Ottawa Myers Riders will travel to meet the Toronto Thunder for their playoff game at Birchmount Stadium.  Kickoff is noon.  Meanwhile, the Essex Ravens will host the Brampton Bulldogs at Raider Field.  Game start is 3:00pm.  The Cambridge Lions will make their way down to Loyola Catholic Secondary School to battle the Mississauga Warriors at 3:00pm.  Finally, the Cumberland Panthers and Pickering Dolphins will tangle at Millenium Field. Kickoff is 3:30pm.
