OFC: Junior varsity Hurricanes shutout Cougars in final regular season game.
The junior varsity Hamilton Hurricanes are going into the Ontario Football Conference playoffs with momentum on their side.
The Hurricanes defeated the Chatham-Kent Cougars 28-0 this past weekend in their last game of the regular season.
In the second quarter, the Hurricanes scored the first two touchdowns of the game. Quarterback Connor Carusello connected with Joel Clairmont for a 16 yard touchdown score at 3:56 of the quarter. Soon, Carusello had a two yard quarterback sneak to put the Hurricanes up 14-0.
At the half, the Hurricanes enjoyed a 21-0 lead over Cougars as Justin Connolly scored on a one yard run to round out the scoring in the first half.
The only score of the second half came in the fourth quarter as Carusello connected with Nicholas Petermann for a five yard touchdown score.
Hurricanes kicker Carson MacRae was successful on four conversion attempts.
With the win, the Hurricanes end the regular season with a 7-1 record. The team begins the playoffs on Saturday July 27th at St. Thomas More in a divisional semi-final game against the Brantford Bisons. Kickoff is at 8:00pm.
