OFC: Ā Thunderbirds Look To Snap Losing Skid

The junior varsity Forest City Thunderbirds Ā looked poised to make a playoff run after not allowing a single point in the first two weeks of Ontario Football Conference (OFC) action.

Since then, the team has lost three in a row and have been outscored 155-35. Tied with four other teams, Ā the Thunderbirds have four points with only three weeks remaining in the OFC regular season. Only the top eight teams willl advance to the playoffs.

This week, Ā the Thunderbirds are on the road to take on the struggling Twin City Predators who are 1-4 on the season. This is a must win game Ā for the Thunderbirds, who will take on two of the teams they are currently tied with in the standings – the Sarnia Sturgeons and Guelph Bears in the final two weeks of the season. Ā The game against the Predators takes place Sunday at 5:00pm.

As for the varsity Thunderbirds, the team is coming off three consecutive Ā losses, including two shutouts. During their slump, the team has been outscored 109-22. The Thunderbirds will need to go at least 1-1 in their final two games to have any possible shot at making the playoffs.

It will not be an easy task as their final games are against the undefeated Twin City Predators and the Peterborough Wolverines, who currently have a 3-3 record.

On Sunday, the Thunderbirds will be in tough against the 6-0 Predators on the road. The Predators are coming off Ā the heels of winning a close game last week. Ā  The Predators score a lot of points and hardly coughs up many. Ā Additionally, the Predators have three shutouts this season. The Thunderbirds will look to give the Predators a bit of a push since they are fighting for their playoff lives.
