Earlier this afternoon at a ceremony at Trinity-Pawling High School, CFC #7 Hergy Mayala officially signed a Letter of Intent with NCAA FBS team, UCONN Huskies.
āI talked a lot to my family,ā recalled Mayala of his decision.Ā āWe sat down and evaluated the options I had with UCONN, Rutgers and Old Dominion.ā
āI decided to go the UCONN because of the things that are happening down there and just the opportunity of being an immediate impact player.ā
Mayala selected the Huskies back in late October.
This past season, the 6ā2, 190 pound native of Montreal, Quebec capped off a successful campaign with New York prep school Trinity-Pawling Pride as he was selected as an All-Erickson League and All-NEPSAC wide receiver.
Previous to the Pride, he has played for both the North Shore Lions and the North Shore Mustangs.
Throughout his career, the CFC 100 has been honoured for his play on the field.Ā Among the honours include Lions Linebacker MVP and Mustangs Wide Receiver MVP.
Last week, Mayala made the CFC 100 for the third conseuctive time.
