OVFL: Lions come out on top against fighting Cowboys.

The Varsity Cambridge Lions played hard to beat the Halton Cowboys with the final score being 47-6.

With the victory, the Lions go to 2-1 on the season.

β€œWe executed better than last week and everyone did their part on offense, defense and special teams,” said Head Coach Anthony Maggiacomo.

On offense the Lions exploded as an entire unit. Lions had notable performances from quarterback James Roberts, with 136 yards through the air and two majors. On the ground, the Lions leading rusher was Michael Lynch with 80 yards. Also, Tyler Woods had a strong performance gaining 69 yards to go with a touchdown.

On defense the Lions had a solid performance. Lions had an answer for the Cowboys passing game, with an interceptions by linebacker Robin Petrie and defensive back Owen Prutton.

Additionally, another strong performance came from kicker Keiran Burnham. He was perfect on the day going 5 for 5 on PAT’s and 4 for 4 for field goals on the day.

Overall, the Lions played a very well balanced game, regardless of personnel.

β€œWe got to play everyone, and everyone got to contribute to the balance,” said Maggiacomo.

Looking to next week the Lions will be taking on the Brampton Bulldogs. This is gearing up to be great contest.

β€œAll three ends have to do their jobs and play as close to mistake free as possible,” said Maggiacomo.

Kick off is scheduled for June 15 at 7pm.
