The Hamilton Hurricanes got the job done but it wasn’t easy.

In the first quarter, the Stampeders conceded a safety to the Hurricanes to open the scoring.  Subsequently, Stampeders kicker Gabriel Ferraro was successful on a 27 yard field goal attempt to put give the team a slim 3-2 margin.

At 13:15 of the quarter, the Hurricanes replied back as offensive threat Jason LeDonne scored a touchdown on a 75 yard run to give the team a 9-3 lead.

On a punt return in the second quarter, Daniel Petermann returned the ball straight into the end zone for a 95 yard touchdown score to put the Hurricanes up 16-3 at the half.

After halftime, the Stampeders went right to work and scored points three consecutive times – a 36 yard field goal by Ferraro, a four yard touchdown run from Lucas Merlin and Troy Downton connecting with Jude Armson for a 43 yard touchdown to lead the Hurricanes 19-16 early in the fourth quarter.

However, Milan was the hero for the Hurricanes as he was successful on a 19 yard field goal attempt to tie the game and then the wide field goal which resulted in the rouge that sealed the win for the Hurricanes.
