Stallions remain undefeated

Huronia Stallions’ Varsity quarterback Adam Zussino tied the team’s record for passing touchdowns in the team’s 55-7 win over the Peterborough Wolverines Saturday.

The win has the Stallions in sole possession of first place in the OFC North Division with a 4-0 record.

Zussino had an outstanding game completing 15 passes on 20 attempts for 330 yards.

He also tied Kyle Graves’ team record with six passing touchdowns.

The highlight was on the opening drive where he connected with Wide Receiver Dan Vandervoort for a 94 yard touchdown.Β  Vandervoort had four receptions for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

Jesse Alves also had an outstanding game with six catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns.

Dylan Beck and John Shields hauled in the other scores.

Kicker Adam Drysdale converted two of three field goal attempts to round out the offensive scoring.

Defensively, the Stallions were able to stop Peterborough on multiple drives where they threatened into Huronia territory.

Safety Brandon Johnston led the defence with 10 solo tackles and an interception.Β  Linebacker Tyler Dekkers recovered a fumble and scampered into the endzone for a 45 yard score.

John Stylianou and Austin Buck also had interceptions.

Mack Holiday had another outstanding game with four solo tackles, three assists, a sack and a forced fumble.

Matt Telford added two quarterback sacks to round out the defensive highlights.

Also on the weekend, the Stallions’ junior varsity team lost 23-2 to Peterborough and the bantam team fell 40-15 to North Halton.

The varsity team’s next game is against North Halton Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the Barrie Sports Complex.
