Stampeders clean sweep

The Burlington Stampeders’ four summer rep football teams are back in action this weekend, but all except the peewees are on the road against Forest City.

The peewee Stampeders will host Brantford at Nelson Stadium at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 16.

Last weekend at home, the Stamps swept four games, three against the Niagara Storm.

Varsity

Jude Armson made the most of his six carries, scoring three touchdowns on the way to a 133-yard rushing day to lead the Burlington rep football Stampeders to a 51-0 win over the Niagara Storm. It was one of four Ontario Football Conference games played Sunday at Nelson Stadium.

RB Jordan Lyons added two more TDs and receivers Ben Field and Sam Lewis also recorded majors.

Connor Maltby and James Morelli picked off Storm passes to lead the Stampeders defence.

Junior varsity

Stamps quarterback Nathan Rourke hit 18 of 22 passes for 349 yards in the first half alone, with six of them going for touchdowns, as the Stamps romped to an 84-14 victory over the Storm.

Rourke added another TD pass early in the second half to wind up with 390 yards passing.

Back-up QB David MacDonald added two more TDs.

George Jeffery had seven tackles and one pick on defence for Burlington, which recorded five sacks in the game.

Peewee

Josh Munoz scored three touchdowns and Ihasz Zachary added two more to lead the Stampeders to a 39-6 win over the Sarnia Sturgeon.

Quincy Vaughn also scored a TD for the Stamps.

Justin Gec had 12 tackles and Jason MacGougan and Zachary picked off passes to lead the defence. Zachary took his pick to the end zone for one of his touchdowns.

Bantam

The Stampeders’ third win in as many starts was a 62-0 pasting of the Storm.

The defence didn’t allow a single Niagara first down, forcing six turnovers and four interceptions.

Isiah Reid paced the unit with four tackles, three behind the line of scrimmage, while Myles Manalo added four more and Devan Dhindsa, three. Matt Paul and Michael Lehmann scored one TD each on interception returns.

Manalo scored two touchdowns on offence with Matt Paul and Jaden Bailey scoring one each.

Stamps quarterback Kurtis Rourke was 7-for-10 passing with two TD strikes to Noah Griffin.
