Stamps move on to the 2016 playoffs

Three wins for the three teams that did see action for the Stampeders in the last weekend of regular season play, bring on the playoffs!!

VARSITY

The defending champs closed out the regular season campaign with a 51-3 romp in Peterborough on July 30^th.  Dominic Mandalfino once again led the Stamps churning out 113 yards on 15 carries and 4 touchdowns which gives him 20 majors for the season.  Nathan Haye scored twice and Faisel Najibi returned a punt a for score.  Patrick Whelan was good on all 7 of his converts and the defence forced a conceded safety touch.  Wolverines points came via a Nick Clarkin 15 yard field goal.  Stamps finish at 7-1 and by virtue of fewer points allowed in their split with Hamilton, take top spot in the South Division.  Wolverines dropped to 6-2 and finish 2^nd in the North Division.

JUNIOR VARSITY

The Stamps finished their season strongly as they shut out the Forest City Thunderbirds 39-0 at London.  Zach Ihasz led the way with three majors for the victors.  Other majors came from Jake Mitchell and John Nikolovski.  Nikita Buzynskyy booted 5 converts and the defence forced two safety touches.  The Stamps finished the campaign at 8-0 while Forest City finish at 3-5

BANTAM

The Bantam squad enjoyed a bye on the final weekend and saw them slip to 3^rd in the standings as a result of Chatham Kent’s 21-14 win over Sarnia.  The Stamps and Cougars played to a 16-16 tie back on July 10^th and ended up with identical 6-1-1 records.  The next tie breaker was point differential within the South Division and the Cougars ended up at +134 while the Stamps were at +124.

PEE WEE

Pee Wee Stamps concluded their season shutting out the Vaughan Rebels 23-0 in the 5^th place game at the Pee Wee Champ Day.  Further details are not available at this time.

 

Varsity and Junior Varsity will host the Divisional Semi Final round on July 31^st at Nelson Stadium.  The JV will host their rivals to the west, the Hamilton Varsity Tiger Cats kicking off at 2:00 pm.  The Varsity unit will host either Brantford or Twin Cities at 5:00 pm.  The Bison-Predators are playing a make-up game from July 8^th on the evening of July 26^th with the winner advancing.  The Bantam Stamps will be trekking to Chatham for their first round date with the Cougars on the 31^st kicking off at 3:00 pm at Chatham Kent SS
