OVFL: Warriors beat down Bulldogs

This past weekend, all three Mississauga Warriors teams were victorious at Loyola CSS.

The Varsity Warriors got back into the win column with a 36-15 victory over their rivals, the  Brampton Bulldogs to bring their record to 4-1 on the season.

The Warriors defense had another strong game, as the unit held the Bulldogs to 15  points.  The unit was led by Jevon Wisdom who had eight tackles. Also, Rion Rodie had two timely batted balls.

The Warriors offensive unit amassed almost 400 yards of total offense.  Nate Hobbs had 12 completions in 22 attempts with 334 passing yards and four touchdowns. Brandon Neil had three receptions for 145 receiving yards and Fraser Miller had two touchdown receptions in the victory.

As for the Junior Varsity Warriors, it took two days but the team grabbed their fourth win of the season while keeping their undefeated streak intact.

At 10:30pm on Saturday night, the referees decided to suspend the game at halftime after numerous delays.  The Warriors were down 17-7 to the Bulldogs.

However, the game resumed Sunday afternoon in Brampton.  The Warriors scored the only points of the game in the second half to win 21-17 and improve their season record to 4-0.

On offense, Warriors quarterback Kevin John ran for two touchdowns and connected with wide receiver Kadeem Hemmings for a major.

In the second half, the Warriors strong defensive effort was due to the play of defensive back  Deven Condln, linebacker Justinkyle Jodhan and defensive tackle Malcolm Hinds.

Finally, the bantam Warriors won 28-14 over the Brampton Bulldogs.  Running back Trey Bryden had 16 carries for 166 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Quarterback George Kostelidis had 8 completions in 12 attempts for 105 passing yards.  On defense, Bryden scored 55 yards for a touchdown on a fumble recovery return.  Mathew Bronn had 11 tackles in the victory.

The Junior Varsity Warriors will travel to Kingston this Saturday to play the Grenadiers, while the Bantam and Varsity teams enjoy a bye on the Canada Day long weekend.  All three teams return home on July 6 to play the Cambridge Lions who are near the top in all three divisions.
