Warriors defense leads way

The Mississauga Warriors Varsity and Bantam squads battled hard this past weekend in Markham against the Markham Raiders.

The Varsity team beat a much improved Markham Raiders squad who were undefeated entering the match.  Final score was 11 to 0.

The Varsity Warriors showed a strong defensive effort with six interceptions, two coming from James McCallum.  Brian Lawrence had 6 tackles and an interception.  On the other side of the ball, the offense moved the ball but continuously shot themselves in the foot with turnovers and penalties.  Jahvari Bennett scored the only touchdown on a 30 yard run and Fraser Miller kicked a 27 yard field goal.

The Bantam team won their first game of the season 27-20 over the Raiders.  Trey Bryden had 133 yards rushing and 56 yards receiving for 2 TD’s, while scoring another on an interception return for a TD.  Khalil Wilson was the other scorer for the Warriors.

The Warriors prepare for the Essex Ravens this upcoming Saturday June 15, 2:30 pm at Loyola Catholic Secondary School.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
