OVFL JV: Wildcats decimate Bulldogs

The JV Metro Toronto Wildcats won their first game of the season this past Saturday in a dominating fashion. They were able to defeat the North Bay Bulldogs 54-0.

Before the game, head coach Ed Babin commented on the size and strength of his team, but no one could anticipate just how good they actually were. Starting quarterback Jack Vernon held a clinic for the other players as he threw for 123 total yards and a touchdown. Backup Cole MacFarlane started the second half and threw a touchdown himself.

On the ground, running back, Mekhi Hyman averaged 20 yards per carry and ran for a total of 143 yards. In the air, Esson Hamilton had four receptions for 64 yards and one touchdown.

Defensively, the Wildcats stopped the Bulldogs at every opportunity. Linebackers Deshawn Stevens (five tackles) and JJ Perpaull (four tackles) where able to break up many of the Bulldogs offensive opportunities. Other standouts included Defensive lineman Henrique Custodio and defensive back Andre Atkinson who tallied the only interception of the game.

There is no question that the Wildcats are setting a high standard of play now, the only question is if they will be able to play so strongly against the league’s better teams.

week 1 JV backup QB

Next week the Wildcats will have their bye week, but will back in action in week three against the powerhouse club, Myers Riders from the Ottawa Area. The game will be at 1:30PM at Minto Field in Nepean.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
