Wildcats bounced

OVFL: Junior Varsity Wildcats ousted by Dolphins

The junior varsity Metro Toronto Wildcats’ season came to a devastating end after losing to the Pickering Dolphins 18-7.

The Wildcats held a 7-1 lead going into the fourth quarter but were unable to contain the Dolphin force. Starting quarterback Jack Vernon came back after missing a couple games due to an injury, but with offensive leaders Esson Hamilton, Ray Martinez and Jordan Burgher out with the injury bug,  the offense was once again stumped.

For the tenth week in a row, defensive back Deshawn Stevens had a great game, striking fear in the Dolphin offensive line. The defense as a whole was able to keep Pickering quarterback Jaylen la Touche to six total yards. It was the run game that gave the Wildcats problems as Trey Humes and Jordan Grimes tallied over 70 yards each.

After a tough loss last week against the Toronto Thunder, head coach Ed Babin said he was “frustrated but optimistic” heading into the playoffs according to the Wildcats’ official website torontowildcats.com.

What began as a very promising season has resulted in the junior varsity Wildcats being unable to move pass the first round of the playoffs.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
