Wildcats get must needed win

The Metro Toronto Wildcats aim to end their regular season on a high note as they defeat the Cumberland Panthers 42-28. As of today, the Wildcats are 3-3-1 which puts them in the playoffs. Right behind them are the Oshawa Hawkeyes, which makes their win against the Panthers very important.

The game was played in the extreme heat which meant both teams had trouble adapting at first. The first half started out as a back and forth affair as the Panthers fought to get their first win of the season. The Wildcats sat defensive star Trevelle Wisdom in hopes to keep him healthy for the playoffs.

This week the defense was led by Dhillon Cole and Dayvon Love, who stepped up to have their best games of the season. Love had two clutch interceptions which helped the Wildcats’ offense get great field position.

The offense not only played well in the heat, but excelled. Quarterback Brett Stein had his best game of the year as he threw for 307 yards, five touchdowns and had a QB rating of 207.9, earning offensive player of the week in the OVFL.

The Wildcats offensive weapons did not disappoint as Trivel Pinto, Angelo Fousteris, Quinn Charles and Khadeem Crossman all contributed with touchdowns.

It was a must win game for the Wildcats, and they did not break under pressure. In order to secure a playoff spot, they need to win next week at home against crosstown rival Toronto Thunder. The Thunder who are 2-5 will not see the playoffs this season, but that doesn’t mean they will allow the Wildcats to win easily.

The game will take place at 2:00PM at Birchmount Stadium in Toronto.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
