With his commitment, Sutherland extends a Canadian connection with the Nittany Lions asย was the previous home of both Toronto running back Akeel Lynchย (now with Nevada Wolfpack)ย and 2014 #CFC100 top ranked prospect Michael O’Connorย (guided UBC Thunderbirds to Vanier Cup in 2015 and former Gridiron Academy trainee).
Sutherland visited the Nittany Lions the weekend of July 18th. Via several media outlets south of the border, he indicated that his comfort level and the ability to develop with teammates and the coaching staff is what prompted him to opt for the Nittany Lions.
During his recruitment, the 6’0, 190 pound defensive back from Ottawa, Ontario received 28 NCAA Division 1 offers.
Some of the other 28 NCAA Division 1 offers Sutherland received included ones from Louisville Cardinals, Temple Owls, Vanderbilt Commodores, Virginia Cavaliers, East Carolina Pirates, North Carolina Tar Heels, Miami Hurricanes, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Appalachian State Mountaineers, Iowa State Cyclones, Maryland Terrapins, Pittsburgh Panthers and Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
Sutherland is currently playing alongside CFC#2 ViIain south of the border for Episcopal Maroon in Alexandra, Virginia.
He has previously suited up for the Cumberland Panthers of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) and North Gloucester Giants of the National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA).
In May, Sutherland was ranked third in the first edition of the #CFC100 CLASS 2017 RANKINGS.
He trains with Tedondo at Gridiron Academy in Ottawa, Ontario.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
