#CFC50 Games of the week (West/Atlantic) RECAP [5]: 11 top teams remain undefeated

We will be previewing the #CFC50 Games of the Week forΒ the West and Atlantic regions.Β While this will be generally geared towards the #CFC50 ranked teams, we want to hear from you if there are great rivalry games or exciting matchups, regardless of tier or division, that we aren’t aware of. Send us a ‘heads up’ by TUESDAYΒ each week and we’ll see what we can do:Β [email protected].

….and now let’s get to it with this week’s #CFC50 Games of the WeekΒ RECAP

No. 1 St. Francis Browns (AB) Β (3-0, 1-0)
St. Francis is coming off their bye week and will be looking to have an intense week of practice as they face the other power house team in CalgaryΒ in the Notre Dame Pride this weekend. This will be the game to watch!

No. 3 Bev Facey Falcons (AB) (5-0, 2-0) 49
Salisbury Sabres (AB) (0-5) 3
Bev Facey played the Salisbury Sabres Friday night in a no contest win 49-3. #CFC100 RB Chuba Hubbard led the way with 4 carries for 234 yards and 3 touchdowns. Defensively, Facey was led by Josiah Schakel who had 6 solos, 1 asst., 1 knockdown, a pass and returned an interception for a touchdown.

No. 4 Leboldus Golden Suns (SK) (5-0, 1-0) 56
O’Neill Titans (SK) (1-5) 12
Thursday night action saw the Suns defeat the Titans 56-12. The Suns out-gamed O’Neill 378 yards to 66. Once again #CFC100 Mbsela had 132 yards rushing and 1 touchdown. #CFC100 Nick Cross also added 50 yards rushing. Leboldus’ QB Donnelly completed 9 of 10 passes with 5 touchdown passes, he had an outstanding game. Leboldus plays one more game before they head into the City semi-finals.

No. 7 Mount Douglas Rams (BC) (2-0, 3-0) 30
Belmont Bulldogs (BC) (0-3) 13
The Rams beat the Bulldogs 30-13 on Friday night. The Rams jumped out to an early start and were leading 20-6 at the half. Once again QB Gideone Kremler had an terrific game throwing for 266 yards and rushing for another 103 on the ground. Josh Lucas led all other offensive players with 161 yards on 9 receptions for Mt. Doug. Defensively, Soren Hallschmid had 9 tackles and 2 QB sacks for the Rams. Belmont competed hard in this game, but could never really close the gap. They will chalk this one up as a moral victory.

No. 11 Terry Fox Ravens (BC) (3-0, 0-2) 57
Mount Boucherie Bears (BC) (1-2) 20
This game was the #CFC100 Jeremie Kankolongo show as he rushed for 350 yards and 5 touchdowns. Out of respect for what he just accomplished, we will end the recap there!

No. 15 Harry Ainlay Titans (AB) (6-0, 1-0) 33
Austin O’Brien Crusaders (AB) (3-2) 6
The Titans beat out AOB in a big rival game that saw QB Cody Olson go 17 for 176 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns along with 150 passing yards and 1 touchdown. REC Jaxon Hume had 2 receptions for 53 yards and 1 touchdown. On defense, Titan’s DL Lwal Uguak had 4 tackles, 2 for loss and 1 sack. Harry Ainlay looks to play Paul Kane this week and remain undefeated.

No. 16 Vancouver College Fighting Irish (BC) (2-1, 2-1) 30
Carson Graham Eagles (BC) (0-3, 0-2) 7
The Fighting Irish beat Carson Graham 30-7 and relied on a punishing ground game to do so. The Irish ran the ball 50 times for 336 yards averaging 6.72 yards per carry and scored twice on the ground. Alfred Dela Cruz had 13 carries for 140 yards and both Irish rushing touchdowns. Defensively, the Irish accumulated 8 QB sacks and were led James Greig who had 10 total tackles and Jaxin Daroza had 9 total tackles. Vancouver College played great defense and effectively ran the ball. This seems to be their winning formula in recent weeks.

 



No. 19 Vincent Massey Trojans (MB) (4-1, 0-1) 36
Grant Park Pirates (MB) (4-1) 0
Vincent Massey raided the Pirates with a balanced offensive attack as Andreas Dueck completed 11 of 16 for 219 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 INT. On the ground, the Trojans also had 170 yards rushing led by Jeleta Gurmu who 107 yards rushing on 13 carries to go along with 2 touchdowns. VM got a big play day from Liam Casey who had 130 receiving yards on 4 catches. Defensively, the Trojans were led by Connor Russell who had 7 tackles, 1 QB sack, and 2 special teams tackles on the day. The lone bright spot for the Pirates was Blade Thickfoot who had 8 solos, 1 QB sack, and a fumble recovery.

No. 21 Henry Wise Wood Warriors (AB) (3-0, 0-1) 50
Churchill/Bowness (AB) (0-3) 0

No. 31 Holy Cross Crusaders (SK) (4-0, 1-0) 26
St. Joseph Guardians (SK) (2-2) 9
The Crusaders defeated the Guardians 26-9. Holy Cross had an effective ground game led by Dhugal Baxter-Jones who 123 yards rushing on 22 carries. This was a game that was decided by who played the best defense and who could effectively run the ball. Holy Cross’ LB Ciaran Sveinbjornson who had 6 solo tackles, 1 asst., and 1 QB sack. St. Joe’s was led by LB Ross Bergermann who had 5 solos and 4 asst’s.

No. 33 Centennial Chargers (SK) (4-0)

Centennial is on a bye this weekend, but will be looking to get back at it on the 13th when they matchup against Marion Graham at 5:15pm.

No. 38 Tantramar Regional Titans (NB) (5-0) 47
Saint John Greyhounds (NB) (0-2) 6
Tantramar dominates another opponent on the East coast. It was a tight game at the half until the Titans exploded for 29 unanswered points in the 3rd quarter. Once again, Aidan O’Neal had a terrific game with 234 yards rushing on 24 carries to go along 3 rushing touchdowns.

No. 36 L.C.I. Rams (AB) (1-0, 1-2)

L.C.I will play Bishop O’Byrne when they come off their bye following the Thanksgiving weekend.

No. 39 CP Allen Cheetahs (NS) (4-0, 1-0) 33
Halifax West (NS) (1-2) 0

CPA Cheetahs defeated the Halifax West Warriors 33 – 0 on a cold, windy night.Β Daniel Spilman had a pair of rushing touchdowns and Josh Geddes and Garrett Windsor also chipped in with touchdowns on the ground.
Kyle Bevan had 11 tackles and Alex Mitchell had 8 to lead the Cheetahs on defense.Β The Cheetahs improve their record to 5-0 on the Season and play CEC next Sunday.

 

No. 43 South Delta Sun Devils (BC) (1-1, 2-0) 8Β 
Notre Dame Jugglers (BC) (2-0, 2-1) 29
South Delta opened the scoring when QB Michael Calvert hit Billy Matichyna on an 8 yard touchdown score and then went on to convert the 2-point conversion. That will be all the scoring the the Sun Devils would do for the evening. The Jugglers on the other hand, scored once in the 1st quarter, another in the 2nd quarter, and went into half-time leading 14-8. Notre Dame would score 2 more touchdowns in the 3rd quarter as “QB Steve Morretta was a controlling force throughout the game” said Coach Ray Moon. South Delta is looking forward to their upcoming bye so they can get healthy and prepare for Vancouver College.

No. 49 Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers (BC) (3-0, 2-0) 54
Mission Roadrunners (BC) (1-2, 2-1) 20
The Panthers pushed their record to 5-0. They relied on a 2-headed monster in the backfield as Derek Best had 140 yards rushing with 2 touchdowns while Joel Klassen had 112 yards rushing with 3 scores. Tweedsmuir was led on defense by Cole Irdwin who had 11 solos and 1 sack.
