Cowboys remain winless

OVFL: Cowboys lose four straight against the Ajax-Pickering Dolphins

The Cowboys were eager to finish the first half of their season on positive note against the Ajax-Pickering Dolphins: a team that shares many similarities with the Cowboys, one being both teams remain winless.

Halton’s head coach Jon Kronemeyer took over the Offensive Coordinator duties this week, in hopes to create more production on Offense. Kronemeyer replaces Ben Britton, whose offense struggled to create scoring opportunities in the first three weeks. Kronemeyer held the OC position last year with the Cowboys and served as the Niagara Spears OC for two seasons.

The new coaching transition seemed to pay off early in the week four matchup, as the Cowboys took the lead early in the game.

However, the Dolphin’s attack was too much for the Cowboys defense and surrendered 37 points. The final score of the game was 37-9 in favour of the Dolphins.

Although the Cowboys have gotten off to another rocky start to the season, they did show some improvement – scoring a season high 9 points.

“We did some good things today. We put points on the board and were leading at one point in the game, we just could not sustain our play and they took advantage of our weakness, overall I saw progress”, said Kronemeyer

Finishing the first half of the season 0-4 the Cowboys now enter their bye – a week that allows them to reflect on their play so far and gives them time to make the adjustments.

β€œThis week is about getting better at our systems. We’ll be introducing a new offense and tightening up our defense”, said Kronemeyer.

The Cowboys will be back in action June 28th in Hamilton against the Ironmen at St. Thomas More High School.
