Oakville Titans defeat Sarnia on opening day

On a hot day at Loyola High School in Oakville the home team Titans defeated the Sarnia Sturgeon by a score of 15 to 0.  The Titans relied on the running of #20 Toluwa Fayemi and a timing passing game to control the ball.

The Titans appeared to have opened the scoring a run by #20 Fayemi early in the game, only to be nullified by an offensive offside penalty.  The next play the Sturgeon sacked the Titans and the eventual result was a short field goal attempt by #18, QB/K, Mike Malo.

Oakville opened the scoring in the first half when #18, Malo hooked up with #7, REC, Baptiste Bodin, for a 30 yard pass run play.  The convert attempt was unsuccessful.  The Titans completed their first half scoring with a field goal by Malo.

The second half saw the game slow down with some players going both ways on a hot, hot afternoon.  The result was sluggish play and a few too many penalties.  Malo scored a touchdown on a QB keeper but again the convert was unsuccessful.

The Sturgeon had strong play by their front, hilighted by #64, Randy Beaudy, #99, Brett Boersma, #61 Brandon Burns. The unit blocked a field goal attempt at 7:49 of fourth quarter. At 3:39 of the fourth Samuel Delage intercepted the Sturgeon and put the game away.
